Hi Gale,
Thanks for your help. I've checked all the updates for my audio and sound drivers, both with Windows and with Lenovo, and both say I'm as up to date as I can be. And yes, the program doesn't ever have to start or be opened after installation to create the issue.

... setting are you referring to? ALSAMixer, or Pulse Audio Volume Control? Can you post a screen shot of what you are looking at? Also please post Help > Audio Device Info... (top right of Audacity). Please see how to attach files to forum posts . Gale

... log: Warning: Critical Nyquist files could not be found. Nyquist effects will not work which occurs if you launch from the DMG. It isn't going to help. ... perfectly. Its nice the way its a single package instead of a folder now. Thanks for testing. Yes, having the contents inside the bundle should help with Gatekeeper too. Re: No recording from Focusrite 2i2 setup
Thanks Loz. Sorry, forgot to mention, I did restart the laptop - twice, in the hope that would help. No luck. I switched to a Linux laptop which works, but would be good to get the Windows lappy working as it has an SSD which is much quieter. Yes- Windows is getting sound from it ok.
