1) Set the recording device in the device toolbar to the actual device that you are recording from (not "sound mapper").
2) Turn off "Software Playthrough" in the "Transport" menu.

Make sure software Playthrough is off . And, don't monitor yourself with speakers ... no effects. It's just the new guitar track that has the weird echo/delay.

Also don't forget when recording WASAPI loopback or stereo mix to turn off Transport > Software Playthrough at the top of Audacity.

I found the echo while recording the magnetic pulse via mic can be fixed in Audacity by:
Unchecking: Edit=>Preferences=>Recording=>Software Playthrough

The magnetic pulses are much cleaner and now closely match the audio out wave form.

... the computer. In Audacity, "Transport menu > Software Playthrough" should be off (not selected), otherwise you will get an echo.
