Re: Usability, Plain English, and a Help Guide Search tool

3. You have a comprehensive Help Guide, but it lacks a Search tool. I want to be able to search for any occurrence of my search word/phrase, e.g. show me every occurrence of “recording device”, or “host”. As a former Technical Author, I know what the end users think: a thorough “Index at the Back” ...

1. There are bits of the screen that just do not allow the width to display the text properly – I can’t read the full text: http://www.technical-author.org.uk/audacity/Audacity%20interface%20bar.png I cannot find a way to increase the column width for these, so I guess it’s down to the programmers....

Usability, Plain English, and a Help Guide Search tool

Hello, I’ve been having problems recording audio from web sites onto Audacity. It works fully OK on my laptop, so I’m trying to find the problem in my desktop PC settings. Both machines use Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit. Anyway, while digging to see what could be wrong, I noticed a couple of things that I ...

Re: Hum remover.

I can't use non-Alpha version of Audacity ... Alpha software is not reliable: it often has bugs. Alpha software is the weakest-link in your chain, (not the plugin, not the OS, not the hardware). I have to ask the specialists to provide a link to another Hum remover, if any, before finding out the r...

... Living room is bare walls ... ATTACHMENTS Audacity Forum Sample JH Zoom H4n 001.wav (1.68 MiB) Sounds very good. Needs some noise-reduction to get the noise-floor down to below -60dB. There is some reverberation from the room, (particularly noticeable when you say "pop filter"). A sof...

I've searched the install directory but cannot figure out where user defined macros are stored. I've also searched audacity help, this forum, auda...

Re: Forum search-function not capable of finding phrases :¬(

I've done a bit of digging regarding this. Apparently phrase searching IS an available feature for phpBB, and is enabled via "Fulltext mysql" or "Fulltext native", but unfortunately there are currently open bugs for both of these methods. When these bugs are fixed, I'll ask the s...

Do the other forums use phpBB?
If so, how do they do that?

If I want to search for a phrase on the forum, I use Google with a search such as:

Code: Select all

site:https://forum.audacityteam.org "the phrase I'm looking for"

Forum search-function not capable of finding phrases :¬(

I was looking for my very old post on "sine speech" , I tried searching the forum for that two-word phrase ... apparently the forum search doesn't do verbatim phrases, (with or without quotes).png That search, (with or without quotes), finds any post which contains the words "sine&quo...
