Extra tracks added automatically when re-opening files
Hey, First post, but I made sure to search and use the FAQ before asking. I'm producing an audiobook, so I'm using all mono tracks, one track per chapter. Yet, for the last couple chapters that I went to edit, I'd open the file and find that there would be extra empty tracks added that I know I didn...

Re: Create music or sounds 8D with Audacity
"8D" is a nonsense buzzword. The correct term is "Ambisonics" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambisonics Audacity does not include an Ambisonic encoder or decoder, though you may find a VST plug-in to do this if you search. The search term to use is "ambisonic". This page...

Re: How can i play sound clips outside of the app

Re: No Woman, No Cry
You may have a hard time breathing. I wrote that for reading with your eyes (the best way, I found) and it has some pretty serious run-on sentences. I'm interested to see what you do with that. I guess the up side is being able to handle almost anything if you can crank through that. Koz I read the...

Re: No Woman, No Cry
You may have a hard time breathing ... That's another reason graduates of Philip Morris University , should try short*-form, e.g. a 30 second commercial, computer-game character , or an instructional voice-over which is only a few minutes long. [* IMO don't bother auditioning for telephony/ IVR job...

Re: LAME Library-updating (dead link on Audacity site)
I posted the following in another thread; I'm copying it here for people who are struggling with getting the LAME library to work, even after upgrading Audacity, or importing the library: I was able to export an MP3 (overcoming the problem with Audacity not finding the LAME library; BTW I'm on Mac 1...

Re: Installing LAME on Mac
I was able to export an MP3 (meaning I overcame the problem with Audacity not finding the LAME library; BTW I'm on Mac 10.14) thanks to Steve's recommendation to use ls at the command line to find the path of mp3lame.dylib Here are the steps that worked. At the command line, type: ls "/Library/...

Re: Normalizing using RMS as opposed to Peaks.
I have many FLAC files ripped from CDs I have collected over the years. It is a diverse collection of both Rock and quieter melodies. I am using Audacity to get them to a common level without the use of ReplayGain, as the player in my vehicle, although it plays FLAC, no one is able to tell me if it...

Re: Recording bass on to Mp3
Some computers can convert their mic-in socket into a line-in socket, under software control. (My Dell laptop can do that) If your HP computer can do that, you can connect the line-out of your amp to the dual-purpose mic/line-in socket on the computer without buying any additional electronics. But ...
