Re: Audacity 2.3.2 / Ubuntu 18.04.2LTS / PPA install
The only version of Audacity that is officially supported by Ubuntu 18.04 is Audacity 2.2.1 (https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=bionic&searchon=names&keywords=audacity) The PPA at https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/+archive/ubuntu/audacity/ is an unofficial repository. There is a l...

The majority of online YouTube downloader apps I've seen also give you free-gift of malware / adware.

Re: Macro to delete original file?
1. Is there a way to add "delete original file" to the macro? No there isn't, and I'd highly recommend checking that your exported files are correct before deleting the original files. 2. Is there a way to move the converted file to the original folder instead of "cleaned" folde...

Audcaity's (soft) limiter (say -6dB) with make-up gain enabled.

Re: Intial Recording Settings
FYI - I set gain on the Behringer at max. I also had the mic setting on audacity at max. I have attached two files. One got the blue waves to .5 along with some room noise. Clipping at 0.5 (-6dB) is a "feature" of the Widnows drivers when you record in mono from a stereo interface.. It's ...

Above the centre line not equal to below
Hi Folks, I'm a beginner, with not much knowledge about audio, as a result I don't know the "name" of my problem so I can't search the Forum for answers. I have looked at the FAQ and not found anything to help. Running Audacity 2.3.2 Windows 10 version 1903 (Build 18362.175) 64 bit I have ...

Re: Understanding sound levels
But am I correct that the bigger the minus number is, the quieter? -.25db is quieter than -.20db? That keeps confusing me. Correct. Just like numbers on a Number Line or the temperature on a thermometer. -10 degrees is warmer than -20 degrees. The "digital maximum"* is 0dBFS (zero decibel...
