What causes delay in recording on Audacity
Hi All, I'm on a Mac running 10.14.4 and Audacity 2.3.2. This question is NOT about latency. The issue is that when I click "Record", Audacity does not start recording for 7 seconds or so. If I have the preference, "Software playthrough of input" checked, the cursor starts moving...

Re: Whoomping sound!

Re: Stretching the dynamic range down to gain dynamics
, when I digitize an LP which is on Tidal, the result I obtain sounds better than the Tidal version Different phono cartridges sound different. The frequency response is different and some cartridges will distort more on loud passages.... It's analog! (clrearer, more colour) Sorry, but I only under...

Re: Normalize
... if you had any other ideas, I am always open to suggestions to make it better If you've not got one already, a pop shield . It lowers the odds of distortion with plosives like "P", "B" & "D". https ://www. soundonsound.com/sound-advice/ pop-shields-why-you-need...

Re: Noise reduction design
I assume that the new noise profile will "refine" rather than "replace" the original noise profile. If you don't do that, you could get pumping background noise which would not be welcome. On the other hand, making the noise reduction much better at the end of the show than at t...

Re: Noise reduction design
I will find a quiet zone at the start of the signal So you already have a sound file. That's a concept shift. Not accurate, when I start my system it searches for the first quiet zone, this is an initialization phase which can take a few seconds, meanwhile, the filtering isn't working and the outpu...

Re: Recording sounds too high but it's not
... So when you say "It's dual-mono, (the channels are identical), and there's nothing above 7kHz." I guess my question is, what do I do or what can I do to correct this? Ensure that the cables, (from deck to mixer, & from mixer to computer) have stereo signals: i.e. at no point are s...

Re: [Help] how to create "electricity aura / current" sound effect ?
There is Jacob's ladder on Freesound.
Could use it to vocode voice, e.g. ... [ I used mda Talkbox vocoder plugin in Audcaity, rather than Audacity's native vocoder ].
