Re: Odd failure playing MP3s...?

Since Audacity knows what an MP3 file is, that may not have been an MP3 file. Did you get it from iTunes? The default format for iTunes is Apple AAC format, not MP3. Right click on the file and display properties. A lot of music flying around the internet is M4P and so on. MP3 is a relatively old fo...

Re: It worked, finally.....but

OK. First we'll do the stand-alone method. Don't do anything until you read the whole posting. Yes, you will need to buy one or two things. It's not dreadful. Phono Preamp http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=phono%20preamp&origkw=phono%20preamp&sr=1 I think they're the only compan...

Re: Sound Input Error

I'm just really looking closely at my Mini, and it's set to Line-In, but Audacity is set to Default Input. And it works. Do you have or can simulate one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2453699&cp=&sr=1&origkw=3.5mm+rca&kw=3.5mm+rca&parentPage=search Any length is good...

Re: Sound Input Error

<<<I have tried making multiple adjustments in Audacity's Preferences, but to no avail. What am I doing wrong?>>> You're making multiple adjustment in Audacity's Preferences. You should be in the Mac System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. If your device doesn't show up there and you can't se...

Sorry, I overlooked that.

A quick search led me to this forum:

I guess you'll also need the VST plugin enabler to run it. That's here:

Re: Phone recording volume too low

You want it to sound like Dr. Laura when a guest calls in, right? Both sides loud and clear and perfectly coordinated?. That's not cheap. She's using a telephone hybrid or Phone Tap back at the studio and doing the individual volume controls in a mixing console with an engineer. The cheap fixes from...

Re: Recording guitar (beginner) - lots of background noise

<<<mic (SHURE) dynamic not compression>>> You got really close to giving us the number of the microphone. SM-58? That's a three-prong microphone and most sound cards are two conductor inputs, or worse, have battery on one of three connections. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnector...

Re: How can they sell this on ebay.. what can be done about

It's perfectly legal to sell Audacity, provided a few basic legal requirements are met detailed here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=AudacityVendors#Advice_for_Vendors This eBay listing appears to fit all these requirements, though it's in very poor form to not make mention of it being...

A link in the header (near the "Search" box) ?

Personally I think a FAQ board on this forum (Read Only apart from forum moderators) would be a good idea to cope with the questions that keep coming up on the forum.
