Re: It worked, finally.....but
OK. First we'll do the stand-alone method. Don't do anything until you read the whole posting. Yes, you will need to buy one or two things. It's not dreadful. Phono Preamp http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=phono%20preamp&origkw=phono%20preamp&sr=1 I think they're the only compa...

Re: Search waveform and replace
Very very much more complicated.rod wrote:This would be like searching for a silent section or a pop or click but more complicated.
To get an idea of just how difficult this would be, have a look at this video:

Re: Search waveform and replace
I'm goin' with no. I don't know any software package that can recognize words that didn't start out doing that such as Dragon Voice Recognition or Strictly Speaking--and they're not audio editors.
Maybe this is one for the New Features section of the forum.

Search waveform and replace
I have several related questions Is it possible to use Audacity to search a waveform for each occurance of a word in a soundtrack like speech recognition. This would be like searching for a silent section or a pop or click but more complicated. Is it then possible to use Audacity to insert something...

Re: Recordings are Skipping. Any ideas?
This is bugging me (but I guess not as much as you butter). Hope this is not covering old ground, but have you tried recording from an analogue source? (for example a cheapo computer mic?) I've done a search on Google, and you are not alone with this problem. Certainly USB mics have much greater lat...

Turn mono track to stereo?
Can this be done? If so, I have no idea how to do it, and I would appreciate assistance. I tried a forum search, but evidently "mono" and "stereo" are too generic to be usable.

Thanks Steve, sorry to be the ignorant n00b crying wolf when it was a lack of training all along! I appreciate your willingness to inform me! I will do some research as you have suggested! LOL :D Well now you know what "Normalise" does and how to use it. It probably seemed to do what you wanted by m...

Re: Unable to apply effects, preview works but nothing appli
LOL :D Well now you know what "Normalise" does and how to use it. It probably seemed to do what you wanted by making everything a bit louder, thus making the voice clearer. If you are wanting to just reduce the peaks, then it's "compression" that you need. A compressor will "squash" the dynamic rang...
