Re: What's the easiest way to record a phone conversation?

By far the easiest way to record both sides of the conversation on a phone call is to use a speakerphone in a quiet room. Place a production microphone next to the speakerphone device and jocky volumes and positioning until both sides, local and far, sound OK. I think my desk telephone--with speaker...

Re: Will Audacity work on a stand-alone digital file?

I want to convert LP's to both Audio CD and MP3 format. I have an excellent (although old) stereo system. I don't need any preamplification. I can take the audio from either the headphone jack of the amplifier, or, perhaps, from one set of speaker connections and connect that audio to some sort of ...

Will Audacity work on a stand-alone digital file?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 (laptop) with a 1.5 GHz Pentium M processor, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB HD, and Windows XP/Pro SP2. This computer is old enough that there is only a monaural mic input--no analog stereo input. I want to convert LP's to both Audio CD and MP3 format. I have an excellent (although old)...

Re: Feedback/distortion in audio: How to remove?

This is where you're supposed to say, "I found a free upload site called "mmmmmmmm.com" and I put a clip up there for you." No, huh? My web host is supposed to offer this, but it's never worked particularly well and since they moved to the New! and Improved! servers, it doesn't work at all. Yet anot...

Re: Musings and questions on cross channel bleed removal

I did a Google search (the best calculator on the internet) for: "15 feet / speed of sound". I got this back: (15 feet) / speed of sound at sea level = 13.435599 milliseconds Is that about how far off the two tracks were? Your method probably won't work well in the long run. If you do this for all t...

Re: recording problems

If you search the forums for troubles with USB turntables, you will get billions and billions of hits. This happens to a lot of people.

We tell people the best and most reliable solution is to stop using the USB cables.

Re: Forum search does not work

The search system will drive you nuts. It seems its goal in life is to not find anything. Now we know how Google became so popular so fast. All search systems used to work like this one.

And speaking of Google, you seem to have found the work-around.

No sorry, I have no real recollection of which forum section it was in - or when. Try using the Search function on the top right of the web page.

Forum search does not work

When I type in a search term, such as: no playback sound, the search engine rejects every word and returns no results. Frustrating, since my problem is there is no playback sound. I get 133,000 hits on google when using this term plus the word audacity.

Re: File and Folder Structure

And reading the question again, there are far worse things than to Export a WAV file of your show. If everything else goes in the toilet, you still have your good-quality edited show up until that point--plus all the original sound files. Search anywhere on these forums for people who damaged some s...
