Re: European vs. American CD's
Cosby, No, CDs are fine - it's just that with DVDs the studios decided to get "clever" and restrict DVDs to play only in certain regions, so that they could control releases. Each DVD has a region code written in it (1 for the US, 2 for Europe etc - and some have Region Code 0 which will p...

How Do I Transfer an Audacity File to an MP3 player
:? I have an audio book that is just one big file. I used Audacity Silence Search (I think that is what it's called) and put breaking in the file every 15 minutes or so. Worked great - and easy too! I exported it as an MP3, using LAME, but now cannot get it onto the MP3 player. (my Dad has a Garmin ...

My auto Start and Stop recording project
I go tired of watching for the end of the record, so I came up with this.
Go to youtube.com and search for "bobhuish" and you will see my Lego project for my son and my USB Turntable project.
Look at it and let me know what you think.

Re: Lost association between source and .aup when moved fold
Problem Solved! If you moved a folder of audacity projects etc prior to reading the forums about that being a "no no", here's what I ended up doing that resurrected all my .aup projects. I ended up doing a Search and Replace in each .aup file, using a text editor, replacing the old drive l...

de-essing plug-in
Hi I'm doing a recording for friend and I have a fine voice but wery sibilant esses. I've tried several different mic positions etc, as I saw advised on another thread, but it's really no better. Is there a filter available? Can I change something in the settings? Or try and re-write with no esses? ...

Re: No longer can't get audacity to work
The first thing you need to do is see if “oleaut32.dll” is still even in Windows. I’m assuming you’re using Windows XP. If it is then it is most likely corrupt as Stevethefiddle said. Do a Windows “Search” to find out what directory it’s in. At that point I’d suggest downloading a new version of it...

Re: Noisy voises
Ventrillo gives .vrf files, there's no other option .. These files can only be played within Ventrillo itself. I havnt found a program yet that is able to convert 'm to .wav, cause that's basicly what i was gonna use Audacity for; catching the played conversation that i recorded earlier to save it a...

Re: Newbie: How to record the 'actors' voices form a dvd??
Shall we save you a step? Your next post is going to be "How do I separate the actor's voice from the background show and audio effects?" "Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a damn." as I recall is over the lush background orchestration for the ending of the movie. Center Pan Remove...

Re: Computer recommendation wanted - eee pc, acer?
Long files could indeed be a problem. Even though you intend to export as MP3, Audacity processes all audio as uncompressed data. 4 tracks at CD quality 4 hours long is around 5.6 GB Normalize each track, then with the "undo" data, Audacity will be using (or trying to use) 11GB of temporar...
