<<<but this time I WILL prevail!!! >>> I may be able to give you a little push. I think there is a hang between the Windows model of Select > OK > Close, and Mac's Select & Execute Immediately, then close later. I have symptoms of a race condition when I use 1.3.x. I can perform a specific, simp...

Re: HELP ??

What kind of help is any of this? It's the "free" sort. None of us gets paid - Audacity is free software that is developed and supported by volunteers. The forum is very busy, with dozens of new questions each day - anyone that is able and willing to help out their fellow Audacity users a...

Re: Basic Microphone info

Thanks Koz. I don't know if it made much difference, but it does give me something to try in the future if I want to improve the quality. I did learn from a search that my particular computer (HP Pavilion, a1520N) may have a very poor sound board compared to some.

Re: audio cd to zip file

Lots of points. AUP isn't a sound file, so if you tried to Zip and send one of those, it would not play at the other end. Only Zip WAV or MP3 files that you made. Sound on a CD has to be ripped to be useful. Music CD sound is a WAV cousin, but not a strict standard WAV sound file suitable for editin...

Re: export as MP3

Having system problems in Windows Audacity 1.2 is a killer because the preferences values are all buried in the Dreaded Windows Registry. That's the last time the Audacity developers made that mistake. I swear this came up before, but I can't find it. Use the Advanced Search at the top of the forum ...

Re: Need help finding this sort of effect!

Search the forum for freeverb and gverb. I think those are the ones people go to when they find that the production tools in 1.2 are a little...old. You could also install Audacity 1.3. Much better tools for stuff like this, and you can have both on your machine as long as you don't run both at once...

NOOB question re garage band cf need librarys

my kids want garage band, and a google search said audacity was the closest wintel program.
I installed the program and plugins ok, but my kids say there should be librarys - drums and guitairs and things I can plug in. I'd be glad to pay for them if they exist.

Re: Recording my side of a Skype session

Recording from Skype is problematic because of the way that Skype manipulates the computer sound system. There is special software available for Skype recording (Search this forum for other posts about Skype). You may be able to record just your side of the conversation by changing the recording sou...

Re: Building with FFMPEG - LIBSNDFILE not available

Thanks for the info about aclocal Gale. I'm unfamiliar building in Xcode and I wanted to build Audacity with FFMpeg. This is why I was attempting to do so via the command line. However, I did give building in Xcode a shot. I used the latest beta source for audacity (cvs -d:pserver:[email protected]...
