Re: Saving custom equalizer presets
Hey Steve and Koz - thanks for your help! With your suggestion, I found the file under "<Drive>:Users<username>AppDataRoamingAudacity" It is a mystery to me why Vista was unable to find this file when I ran the search function before ... I must have had my search preferences out of whack (...

Re: Playback delay while recording?
Let's see. Windows ... Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > Stuff On The Bottom. Sometimes the difference between Hardware Playthrough and Software Playthrough will help. It will never go to zero. Digital systems' curse is latency. Everything's always a little late no matter what you do. Create a rhythm...

Re: Question re: adjusting sound level
Oh. You got really close to wanting to do it automatically. That's called "ducking" and I don't think 1.2 will do that. But anyway, yes, certainly, you can do it manually. The tool is the two white arrows and bent blue line to the left of the PLAY button. I forget....ummmm...Envelope Tool....

Re: Is this the best way?
I see the problem. The sound card isn't up to the number of channels in the board. Does it, by the way, record all ten? Audacity will handle 16 tracks, but the software has to directly support as many channels as you have. Without adding money, you can record just the stereo mixdown, or record the s...

Re: pasting a clip into a track?
I've never used the split-cut, nor the envelope or cross fader before. That looks like a useful set of tools and I'll check that out tomorrow. The Envelope tool is extremely useful, but rather irritating in that it is rather fiddle to use. When you have tried it out and discovered both how useful, ...

Re: Recording with two mics
The traditional way is a mixer or other sound processor. You can't connect two "computer" microphones to a PC at the same time. There is a battery voltage that goes up to the microphone from the computer and strange things happen when it tries to operate two microphones at once. If you hav...
