as far as drivers go, this download page popped up on a google search:

I assume that 'sound' is the category I need, but I'm not really sure if that's so, or what is 'trusted' content to download. Do you have a recommendation?

I think you're right - the Windows search (in Vista anyway), never shows up files from anti virus/spyware etc.

I don't have any good answers. VST support has always been a little ratty in Audacity. Try the Advanced Search at the top of this forum.

And please don't post hundreds of pages of core dump without asking first. The forum isn't all that big.

well i got the cable in the mail today doesn't really do much either way, seems i need a program or another device to get the RCA to transfer into USB or for my computer to even acknowledge that the cable is doing something for that matter...
