Re: Auto play from the command line
Yes, you placed the question to a wrong place. There is some (limited) comandline support. I know about second instance DDE parameter passing mechanisms and I was sceptic about it. If you want to ease some of your less important tasks, it might work, but if you have to rely on it, always close audac...

Re: Backround static
If the performance and the audience is in stereo, but the band is pretty much all mono, then you might be able to use some of the "vocal isolation" tools to suck the band out of the mess. Voice Removal or Isolation --Center Pan Remover (Voice Remover--Search the page for "Center Pan R...

Re: Zoom H2 Recorder and Skype
You didn't tell us anything about your computer. Typically you only do this trick with the manufacturer's own software package or the full license of Pamela. In order to get Skype to work at all, the software grabs the computer sound services firmly and doesn't let go. It has to take over both direc...

Re: volume lowers by itself
Many PCs have automatic volume control on their sound channels. PCs are assumed to be used to make telephone calls, not theatrical performances. Automatic volume control can be good on a phone call. Somewhere in one of your sound control panels there should be a clicky or selection you can turn off....

Re: .au files on DVD are invisible in Windows Explorer
The second machine may think the missing files are system files and thus are out of bounds. Open Folder Options and tell Windows to stop hiding "Known File Types" and "System Files". Tell it to stop masking file extensions. The next time you do a directory search, everything shou...

Re: Recording LPs with Audacity Question
The problem that you may encounter while playing the LP (on loudspeakers) while recording is that you may get a little audio feedback through the cartridge - particularly if you play it lound and your record deck is not very acousically insiulated. (However, having said that - I do play mine while r...

Re: MP3 Export Crash
Other than that, our problem is replicating the issue. You can by all means zip the v3.97 lame_enc.dll that Audacity recognises with the v3.98 one it does not and send it to me. See details in a PM I'm about to send. FYI, I've done a search on the entire system disk (where Windows is installed) and...

Re: MP3 Export Crash
So how about if you delete the entire contents of audacity.cfg (not the file itself) and replace the contents with just this line at the top: NewPrefsInitialized=1 It means losing all your old preferences so you might want to make a renamed copy of the file first. Nope, no joy with that, either. Ot...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 Crash over long time recording?
Good to see lots of detail in your post. The usual killer for long recordings is simply running out of unfragmented disk space. As space gets low, the hard drive is having to skip all over the disk in search of available space, while all the time trying to keep up with the constant stream of data, t...
