Re: Audacity questions
What do you mean pretty poor sound quality? .... Was the WAV version any better? The WAV version is noticeably better sound quality than the MP3 version. I don't use YouTube much, but it's clear that there has been a substantial reduction in sound quality due to MP3 compression. It may be worthwhil...

Re: what does this mean......
whats this alpha 1.3.8 This is the version that the developers are currently working on. No it's not a stable release, and it changes regularly as the developers add, remove and change bits of it. The most current version is available by downloading the source code and compiling it yourself (not pa...

Re: Please Help Identify this Noise Problem
First, thanks for the response, I still haven't had luck identifying it. Yes it is the tapping, popping, thumping, sound. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it is not there when the camcorder runs on it's own mic. It is completely consistent, it loops that same loop back to back, repeatedly. Throu...

Re: missing file
There is only the free version and I think you're suffering from Microsoft Windows. My Computer > View > Folder Options > turn off all the file hiding and extension masking. It's not surprising that you can't find all the parts of the Audacity Project, but it was a little surprising that you Exporte...

Re: Time stretching and pitch scaling
Audacity uses Libsoundtouch. A good place to start your search would probably be here: http://www.surina.net/soundtouch/ There is a basic introduction in the README http://www.surina.net/soundtouch/README.html For more detailed information you will probably need to study the source code and examples...

Re: Recording LP to CD
I would (and indeed do) use Amplify and not Normalize. This is because Normalise works independently on each of the stereo tracks and brings each L & R up to the same level - theus the stereo balance and the stereo image can be destroyed. There has been much discssion on this topic in other thre...

Re: Can't Record
<<<Garage Band>>> The object is to record the work in Something Other Than Audacity to figure out what the data stream configuration is. When I do this with a USB Microphone and QTP, I get a file 44100, 16-bit, Center. I wasn't expecting that. I was expecting Mono which is what I use to capture the ...

Re: Gracenotes
Leaning on your header title for a second, if GraceNote is doing all the heavy lifting, then you may be working way too hard. Music CDs do not have titles of any kind on the disk. When you put a disk in the machine, iTunes sends all the physical properties and order of each cut to GraceNote and Grac...

Re: Volume fading
The other possibility is that if you are recording into a microphone socket of an on-board sound card, there could be some kind of "noise cancellation" effect that is interfering. If this scenario looks likely, search thoroughly through all of the sound card settings and turn all effects o...
