The version is 1.3.5-2 how you can see if you connect to debian org and search packages Audacity.
Reading this forum I've also found that probably the question is related to the PortAudio v.19
In previous version was possible to select the line in input

It's not a special instruction because compared to separating the original vocal, it's a piece of cake. Take the separated vocal and paste it into an additional track underneath the music. Project > New Audio Track. You may need to make the vocal into stereo for a good mix. Vocal Isolation from the ...

Thank god for a search engine on this forum. I purchased a TonePort UX1 myself, and having the same issue. Is there a way at all to get it to read 3 - 4? What you're doing now is Insert Editing, where the new work pushes everything else out of the way. Another way to do it -- in Audacity 1.3 ... Simple Question, don't know how to search for it.

This has probably been asked before, but I am unable to think of any way to word it in a search.

Basically, is there a way to turn off when you delete or add something into an audio track, everything else shifts forward or back?
