Last time I visited the Rogue Amoeba page, they had thousands of postings begging them to come out with a 64 bit version.

as per positive recommendations i attempted to buy the BEHRINGER UCA202 i conducted a through search but there is no availability with all retailers stating its on back order. i did see a UCA222 on ebay but the price was well over the $30 avg retail (i assume its available as those are also scarce) ...

Is the Audio-Technica AT2020USB+ compatible with both Ubuntu and Audacity?

We hear from plenty of Audacity users that successfully use the AT2020USB with Audacity.
I'm on Linux but I don't have an AT2020USB, but a 1 minute Google search says that people are successfully using this device on Linux.

Did you try the Distortion Effects ? some of those settings should be capable of severe distortion I'm not sure what you're after but a low-bitrate MP3 or maybe a CODEC/format designed for speech can "damage" the sound.. "Distortion Effect" or "audio effect" is probably...
