Re: External Interface compatibility
The subject seems to be kinda scattered all over the place, do we have a "master list" anyplace of what's compatible and what isn't? My main purpose is to be able to ship digital audio back and forth between my computer/Audacity and both my TASCAM 2488neo and my Philips standalone CD reco...

Re: Connecting/recording with an M-audio Mobile Pre USB?
Sounds like we're in the same boat. My previous recording experience was on a Fostex X-15 in the 80s (I still have it, but it doesn't work). I was writing my post while you were posting yours. If you hear or figure out anything useful, I'm at [email protected].com or "unclejim8" on Skype or ...

Re: Audacity 1.3.9 crashes with effects>voice remove
I was wondering how you were going to make out with that. Voices are not frequency specific. Very few things are. This is the spectrum of one (1) piano note. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/piano_G1.jpg So you can't do it that way, and most people opt for the Vocal Removal Tools which everybody offer...

Re: How to compute SPL from sound inputed from a microphone.
<<<That's about as close as you will get.>>> Real SPL meters also have curves. Workplace rules for dangerous noises are written in "A" curve which gives less importance to very high and very low pitch sounds. The "C" curve isn't a curve at all, but gives equal importance to all p...

Stereo Mix: Static & Other Issues...
Hi. I'm having two problems that are driving me insane: 1.When I change my input to "Stereo Mix" from Edit --> Preferences, not only does it record 'what I'm hearing,' it also record inputs from my microphone. Even when I mute my microphone recording volume from the control panel, it still...

Re: Retrieving an unsaved file
Go into Audacity Preferences > Directories and see if you can get any hints from that. That's the place where you tell Audacity where you want the temporary files to go. Past that, search your brains out. I wonder if you even get an AUP file. Nobody saved a Project and that's what creates the file. ...

I think the AppData folder is a hidden folder, so you need to make hidden folders available in your search.

If you give enough information you may get a useful reply. Thanks, Steve. I gave up after trying about a two-dozen suggestions from this list: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=2ja&q=audacity+stops+recording+site%3Aubuntuforums...

<<<I've been playing around to make this work for me, too. >>> Except he's not doing anything like the complex podcast you're trying to do. You had a good shot at it until you involved Skype. Skype viciously resets the sound pathways in your machine to do what it wants and to heck with anything else...

Re: Sounds of Silence
<<<by reacquainting the program with the source files?>>> Yes, but that's a programming task. Much easier to move the music back to where it was. Get a strong cup of coffee and open up your AUP file in TextEdit. That works because the AUP file is XML semi-English programming. It is not, as many peop...
