True, and something to be aware of. But if he's doing a global search and replace, old path with new path, he should catch everything regardless of which stereo channel it is associated with.

Re: Migrating files to new hard drive

It is fairly certain that you are not suffering from a disconnect between the .aup file and its _data folder. That fact that you get the waveform (blue lines), and that Audacity does not complain about missing blockfiles points to this. The symptom of waveforms with no sound means that your projects...

Re: Select and replace

Hi stevethefiddle,

Thank you to recall the functions "basic" Audacity.
But my request was:
Starting from a selected template, how to search /replace / remove "AUTOMATICALLY" samples identical to the model, which are on this track?
(just like in a text editor...)

Best regards

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

Thanks for the replies! Since I first saw the T.Bone's that I had this feeling it should have a good quality/price ratio. The bad thing is it doesn't have pattern switching. After reading your comments and thinking more about it I think I really should get a mic that allows switching patterns. Since...

Re: Peak Search

I am editing a live recording of 'quietly singing' schoolkids performing in front of an audience of enthusiastic parents. Typically I find a half-dozen spikes in signal level which, once identified, can be attenuated allowing me, in turn, to amplify the entire recording by a few db. You should be a...

Re: Peak Search

Tested with Audacity 1.3.11 on Win XP and Linux and get a "clipping" indicator wherever the waveform reaches 0dB. Have noticed this with other versions of Audacity previously. AFAIK Audacity should display a red line when the waveform reached 0dB. As Bill says, with anything other than 32b...

I hope it doesn't do that. If you're in 16-bit mode the signal can't exceed maximum. I just tried it and I do get a red clipping line.

Mine doesn't do that. I only get the red marker if the wave exceeds maximum.

Re: Peak Search

If "show clipping" is selected in the "view" menu you should see a single red line where that peak touches 0dB. Actually when I do this, no red line appears - nor would I expect one too, since the signal technically shouldn't be clipped. I am thinking of suggesting 'peak search'...

Re: Peak Search

The default Amplify will increase the size of the waves until one of them somewhere in the show hits maximum. You can tell amplify to ignore clipping and increase the size a little more. The resulting waves should light up bright red at the clipping point. If you just use the Amplify effect with th...
