Spectrum Analysis of Musical Notes
Hi, I have searched through pages of the search results but couldn't find a topic on a problem similar to mine. My goal right now is to record a scale on my bass guitar and to determine the frequency of the notes (fundamental and overtones/harmonics). My problem is that while I am playing a certain ...

Help Me With My Thesis Project Please!
Hello, I am currently conducting my Master's thesis experiment, and it involves the recording and analysis of vocal responses made by subjects. In the experiment, one of four sessions is carried out for 12 minutes, during which Audacity is recording everything. A stimulus is played through speakers ...

Re: How to make an effective echo?
Many people use GVerb included in Audacity 1.3. If you're on a Mac, you also get AUMatrixReverb. The reason everybody's effect always sounds like trash is you can't actually, really make this effect, and for a lot of the same reasons that you can't filter an echo out of a performance. If you stand i...

The problem arises because many of us are using MP3 as our standard storage file. Most downloads come that way. Yes indeed. But if all you are...

Re: Average loudness and compression
The compressor that gets recommended most often on this forum is Chris's Compressor - I don't use it so I can't give you the link - just try the Search function at the top right of the forum page.

Re: Bass "dies" during recording.
It will sound good for a few seconds, then just fade away quietly. What's causing this? Your sound card. The input that you are using is designed for connecting a computer microphone, not a keyboard. If you search through your sound card settings you should be able to find an option that may be cal...

Most stable version of 1.3 on Snow Leopard?
I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but I couldn't find it on a search or in the FAQ. What is the most stable version of Audacity 1.3 on Snow Leopard? I'm running OS X 10.6.2, and Audacity 1.3.7.1, and Audacity keeps quitting on me after I get maybe 5-10 minutes of recording done. Should I go...
