Re: Using Audacity to create music to sell
There are already websites to deliver music to consumers, e.g. BandCamp, ReverbNation. If you want your music to be used commercially, (e.g. in advertising), there are commercial sound-libraries . There's usually no up-front costs, the websites are effectively agents who get a cut of sales. [ It's a...

Re: How to put Audacity in your dock and use microphone in 10.15 Catalina
There is an easier way. Edit /Applications/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audacity.sh vi /Applications/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audacity.sh Replace the line that says exec "$dir/Audacity" with open "$dir/Audacity" , so that the file contents look like the following: #!/bin/sh # #...

Re: Start/End Pad in Noise Gate
Alternatively, you could search on-line for free VST Noise Gates to find other options. "JB Phatt Pro" is a free compressor/expander/gate plugin that works in Audacity on Windows ... JB Phatt Pro in Audcaity 232 on Windows 8.png IMO most of the old JB (Jeroen Breebaart) plugins are worth ...

Re: Start/End Pad in Noise Gate
Your first image is not quite right. The orange region should be outside of the yellow region. The technical terms for your suggested enhancement are: Lookahead (padding before the sound) Hold (padding after the sound) The Nyquist Noise Gate plug-in does use lookahead, but for simplicity of use, it ...

Re: setRMS nyquist code not working
I pulled SetRMS from kozco.com /Documents.
A search returns File Not Found.
I still have pages that try to point to it. I'll hit that tomorrow.

Re: Audacity ends if I try to open or import a file
That's interesting. On Windows, Audacity's file browser uses the Windows file browser. If the File Explorer crash can be fixed, I think there's a very good chance that it will also fix the Audacity crash. A quick Google search comes up with lots of possible causes for File Explorer crashing. One &qu...

Re: Editing .aup and Gain?
I produced an audiobook about four years ago with minimal equipment. Do you still have the minimal equipment? Do you have a backup if your shiny new microphone fails? In my opinion, you read your performance and immediately export it, fluffs, flaws and all as a WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit sound file. Pu...

Re: audiobook harshness after using filters
I've decided to get one and start again. Post the idea before you write a check. I can point to glowing reviews of terrible microphones. While you're working, Google [the microphone] Complaints. Anybody can pay people to write glowing reviews. That and reviewers might not review a bad microphone ra...
