Re: Not saved project properly
If this has happened multiple times, maybe you should not be saving a Project. Export As WAV to get a simple, stand-alone sound file that you can manage just like all other files. The _data folder with all the fragments in it is the actual show in highly fragmented form. The aup file pulls it all to...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
Built-in microphone amplifiers almost never sound very good because of the close proximity to the noisy electronics inside the computer. I know, when I bought new "monster" graphics card I could no longer stand listening to anything on headphones from the computer... It would sound like i...

Re: 1.2.6 on Vista 32 sp2 poof crash on launch
So that we are starting from a blank sheet; Uninstall all versions of Audacity. Go to C:Program Files and delete any Audacity folders (there should be at least 2 - one for Audacity 1.2.x and one for Audacity 1.3.x) How comfortable are you with editing the Windows Registry? (you are aware that messin...

Re: cannot get lame to work in windows 7
Search your computer for all versions of lame_enc.dll and either delete or (safer) rename them (add ".bak" to the file name). Go to Users<user name>AppDataRoamingAudacity and find the file "audacity.cfg" (you will probably need to make "hidden files" visible to find it)...

Re: Error - wont record
How to reset Audacity 1.3.x Preferences: Audacity Preferences are stored in a configuration file called "audacity.cfg" in the Audacity settings folder. The configuration file can be edited with any text editor. The Audacity settings folder is located at: * Windows Vista: Users<user name>A...

Re: Moving The Waveform To 0
This is drifting way off topic as the question from jahoh was answered accurately and succinctly in the very first reply (thanks Trebor). DC offset is likely to produce a click when the track starts playing and when it stops playing. It can cause additional clicks if it is edited with audio that doe...

Re: Retrieve files from Export Files?
Thanks for the reply. I'm running Windows 7, there is no tools tab in 'computer'. A search turns up nothing. How do I send a file to the desktop from Audacity?

Re: Retrieve files from Export Files?
Just to cover the bases: Audacity does not save sound files. Audacity will Save a Project which consists (in it's smallest form) an .AUP file and a _data folder. You can Export a WAV file which will open up in Windows Media and allow you to burn a Music CD. Make sure you call the file a name that ha...
