Re: bookcassette
When using players without balance control (I.E. portables & personal players), a BookCassette Adapter is needed. if you had a true stereo player what you said you tried to do should work. ... that appears to confirm that the person was using a mono recorder looking over my collection i see a l...

Re: Recording streaming audio
Cracked it at last. I have finally been able to install the latest driver for my sound card (I had to search out a method of doing it indireectly) but Audacity v.1.3.11 is now working as it should.

Re: Unable to download FFmpeg installer
Thanks for the response. Yes, I have tried to download both the executable installer file and the .zip archive file several different times over the course of several days. I have also used a search engine to find "gaclrecords.org.uk" but was unable to connect from those search results as ...

Re: Upping bit rate on export on a file that is less on impo
Thanks WC, I listen to a lot of podcasts via Itunes, do I have any control on the degree of kbps in the downloads? Also is it overkill to search for 320 over 256? Is the quality negligible? I do run a half decent set of inears headphones in the shape of UE10 triples so I like to think i will benifit...

Re: SSM2019 monolithic pre-amp chip
It's an analogue pre-amp chip. It doesn't use "bits". yeah... I was wondering how the bits were related to this chip... I was looking at the example circuits (particulary the phantom power one) in the datasheet... I see they use +18V/-18V for voltage supply... is this the standard supply ...

Re: Delete part of a recording
Still have my other problem Did a search several different ways and can't find .au or .aup folder but I have the _data file. Your operating system is probably set so that it doesn't show certain filetypes and maybe not file extensions - Windows is set that way by default for example. FYI When you s...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity
UPDATE: It's working very well. Can't thank you enough. Now I want to add an additional track or two. I'm going to try going directly in through "Mike" but am thinking I'll need a better quality interface perhaps. I'll do a thread search for that. I'm playing around with "effects"...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/23-sample-with-silences-Keypex.wav I left the first 2-1/2 seconds of noise in there before I suppressed it. That's Noise Gate 20Hz, -15dB reduction, -35.3dB threshold. I didn't damage that last note. The original performance stopped. Koz Where did my noise g...
