Sound level
Following earlier postings on this topic this is the next installment on my search for a better understanding of sound levels after using an A/D device to record my records and tapes. The history is that when I record my vinyl through my Behringer UFO202 the recordings are quite quiet when I put the...

Save dialogue
Hi, I love Audacity, it's great for messing around with songs and sound clips, and I love it even more since I moved from 1.2 to 1.3.12, the labels work a lot better and there's little or no random crashes. Good job guys! Just one small point... on the open/save dialogue I can't use the Vista deskto...

Re: How to Download & Make the LAME program work
I'm not sure what the difference is (trying to find out), but if the .exe version does not work, the .zip version appears to fix the problem. Leland built the 3.98.2 lame_enc.dlls for Windows, but it would seem from his build scripts that one of the differences is that the dll in the zip file conta...

Re: 1.2?
And which 1.3 version did you try? The one on lenny (stable) is 1.3.5, try addind the squeeze (testing) sources to apt and install that version (1.3.12, the most recent 1.3) You have 1.2.4b on etch (oldstable) reps, but that's a really old one... I'd advise to go for the 1.3.12 first. Here you can s...

Bulk generating silence on multiple mp3 tracks?
Apologies if this topic has already been covered. I did a search, but couldn't find the right info. More than happy to be corrected though. I'm new to Audacity and haven't got to grips with the full capabilities, but I came across it when Google searching for a means to add a couple of emtpy seconds...

Re: Acoustic guitar recording
From my recent personal experience I'd say... start with standard position: mic standing about 30-35cm in front of the 12th fret. About getting new equipment... I went for a large diaphragm mic with switching patterns (cardioid/omni) because I also wanted to use it for purporses other than just reco...

Re: moving up the all tracks
When you start into heavy track management (editing) it's good to make protection copies of your show. Any time you play an instrument to capture in the computer, Export As WAV and make at least one copy of the performance on a thumb drive or external drive -- or data CD or data DVD. You can save pr...
