I am utterly new to processing audio. I am willing to read the tuts, but have no idea where to start, or what language to use to search for a solution to the problem I"ve encountered. I'm converting old (15+yrs) audiobooks on cassette to mp3. I've successfully converted three full books (about ...

Re: Setting track number for export multiple

SoX: http://sox.sourceforge.net/ Apparently it's available for windows too. In Linux I think you can pipe sound through sox and have something similar to realtime audio processing... I never tried it though. On windows I have no clue if you can do it or not. I did a quick search for realtime audio p...

Re: Ubuntu 7.10 (I know) audacity won't record
it would help to know what device you're trying to record from... laptop or desktop computer? built-in soundcard (line-in? mic?)? external one? usb? firewire? try what steve says here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=32938#p89257 or here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtop...

Want you want is a compressor. If you search the forums you'll find some threads about that subject. Chris compressor is often mentioned and praised.

no offense on any of my "bloated" or "stable" comments No offence taken, I completely understand how frustrating it can be when it doesn't work right :) as soon as I disabled "Audio Units" as well, bingo...2 seconds and open for business. When I saw that disabling VST ...

Re: Why does it seem to take forever for Audacity to open?

It's still possible that you have a bunch of VST plug-ins in the user and system locations. But my understanding i...
