Re: Sending users to our documentation
I'm not quite so sure about the link to "Tips". We considered a troubleshooting page or category on the Wiki but it kind of cut across the existing structure. I think the current front page is in essence a mini troubleshooter. Maybe it would be better to link there instead of Tips? How ab...

Re: Audacity won't allow me to choose the lamelib file
After several hours trying to insert lame into audacity I finally discovered the solution (which I couldn not find anywhere) and hoped it will help: 1) download Audacity and Lame. 2) record a 2 minute something. 3) now try to save it as mp3: a message will tell you must insert Lame Library; to do so...

Re: how to record mic and computer playback simultaneously
Generally, recording microphone and computer playback simultaneously, though a quick timesaver, is to be discouraged because this gives you no way to separately edit the mic recording and that of the audio playback. It is better to record the computer playback into Audacity, then record the mic into...

Re: Capturing sound using Headset with "What U Hear"
why isnt the Stereo Mix picking it up to us I have a suspicion of why that is, but I'd need to check some details to be sure. Do you know the make/model of the USB converter, or even a web link to the product? Its a Plantronics converter, I got it a while back with a diffrent headset. I can see if ...

Converting vinyl: Stereo input but extracted as mono
I'm trying to transfer vinyl/cassette to stereo .wav/.mp3 files using an ART USB preamp, USB cable, Audacity 1.3.10-beta and Win7 64-bit on an HP dv7 laptop. I've set up "microphone" (USB Audio Codec) under Win7's "Recording devices" and made its properties "2 channels, 16 b...

Re: Soundcard to record "what you hear" in Win 7 with Audaci
Steve: I do have complaints about Creative driver support, but my comments were generally intended to comment on the problems with stereo mix and Windows 7 generally---particularly considering that it was not an issue at all several years ago with earlier operating systems. Since I last posted I wen...

Re: Correct version of lame for 1.3.12-beta ??
I've moved and merged these topics so that all replies will come to the same place. You've been rather unlucky - this is usually really easy, but hopefully these instructions will get you going. I generally use the ZIP version that is on that page ( libmp3lame-win-3.98.2.zip ) Download the ZIP file ...
