Re: Start/stop recording based on external switch?
I saw the sound-activated recording, and that almost seems like what I need. The only question is, will it create a new file every time the level changes to wheer audacity is recording or not? or if I leave it running all day, will all of my phone convos be in one large file? I can almost deal with ...

Re: please help
since you will do most of the programming and audacity or whatever will do little more than i/0 for you (record the voice sound, playback your wav after processing) with perhaps some *batch* not realtime f/x you could use audacity but probably need a lot more f/x than audacity has if you want realti...

Re: please help
you might be able to do it with audacity and enough programming but a program that worked directly with synthesis might be easier is this practical --- [sure - see it all the time on every spy show maybe csi miami too - easier than the magic they use every monday] --- for the cia or kgb suggest you ...

Re: Sending users to our documentation
from the perspective of a dumb user who has a problem to solve -- now , of course and not from the viewpoint of an audacity suit who wants everything to be pretty and just so ..... we may have found the forum that way after a google search or maybe we came some other way -- but does not mean we wrot...

Re: Setting audio file properties (KBits/s,bits,Hz,channels)
There's many format conversion programs that support a range of formats, but Sox is the only one that I know of that supports all of the formats that you are asking about. Sox is a "command line" program rather than having a graphical interface, but it is designed for general public use (n...

Re: Sending users to our documentation
I've definitely had several users telling me they would never have worked out the white "Advanced Search" was a link - even if underlined. And you have got me on a hobbyhorse as I never liked this background - it isn't a colour that's part of our logo, as Vaughan once pointed out. How abou...

Re: Sending users to our documentation
Can you return the background colour to blue and just make the letters white? Yes, the selective background colour looks terrible doesn't it? And yes, making the links white would be tasteful, and match with "Advanced Search" except that a) it's not the correct colour for a link; b) it's ...

Re: Sending users to our documentation
Personally I still think the links in that dark blue colour on the darkish blue header background do not stand out nearly enough to be clearly visible - remember we had a long discussion about this a while back - regarding colours and font size for the link text.) -1 on making the font size any lar...

Re: Need expert in live audio restoration on-the-fly
But what can be done with signal drops ? You mean when chunks of data are missing? (drop-outs) There are some techniques for concealing very small amounts of data loss (packet loss concealment), but if the lost data is much more than loosing the occasional few bytes there's not much that can be don...
