Re: Help, walk through
It's difficult/impossible to give exact steps due to differences from one machine to another due to differences in the sound card hardware and sound card drivers. However, there is an article here that goes through the various settings that you need - the hard part is setting up the sound card corre...

Re: Recording Track Names
I am recording music from a digital radio station which displays track information (such as composer, name of piece of music etc) as it is being played. Is there some way of automatically capturing this track information as the music is being recorded on Audacity? No. If you are accessing the strea...

Re: tag format
The following attachment gives a little insight into my own taxonomy structure: file structure.PNG You can see that I have folders for different media types: LP/tape/radio etc. Then within those there are subcategories for music types: folk/blues/pop/jazz etc. Within those there is a folder for each...

Mark points in the waveform
While I'm editing, I often need to "mark" points for selecting. I currently search through the file, the listen and write down my "cut in" and "cut out" points, then I select from one point to the other by dragging the selection, which can take a while when I need to go...

Re: tag format

In a folder, you would see Elvis before Frank Sinatra and you would see Frank Si...

Re: Won't record.
Hiss on standard built-in soundcards is normal... don't expect to have a crystal clear sound from the mic input. Digital output is usually for S/PDIF output on your card. You're probably not using that... For speakers and everything else you should be wanting all analog. Try selecting Default on the...

You might find something useful at the link below: http://tinyurl.com/23rkyt8 The link is the Google search results for "Realtek" and "stereo mix" at this web site: http://www.vistax64.com. I now use Windows 7 but formerly used Vista and fought the driver wars on Vista. You may b...

Re: Click Removal Tool
Pat, when I started out doing click removal a few years ago I was using manual methods with Audacty: and I used to use the deletion method you describe - and you're right that in most cases you won't notice the deletion. In fact I will still do this for a very damaged recording (like the sample you ...
