Re: Need the language to search for the answer!

What you're looking for is Compression. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression Audacity has a Compressor built-in (Effect > Compressor), but many of the experts here also recommend Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/ which you can download as a plug-in ...

Re: Baby Crying in the background on my sons wedding..now wh

I did a google search on "Extra Boy" and saw tons of Download sites that require your name and personal info to download the "Extra Boy" software. Since they all looked like they were coming from Europe I'm a bit gun shy about giving out all of my info to get the download. Do you...

Need the language to search for the answer!

Okay so I don't know a lot about audio editing and as a result I'm having trouble looking for the answer to my problem. I don't know what to search for because I don't know what to call my problem or what I want to do. I have a recording with 3 voices on a single track. Two voices are too loud, one ...

Sync Issue

Apologies if this has been brought up a million times already. I did search around the forum for the last few days and did a bunch of searching online and still I'm not sure what to do about this, so hopefully one or more of you can help me out or maybe point me in the right direction of some useful...

Re: Audacity Frozen

I'm guessing that: you are using Audacity 1.2.6 on Windows Vista and this is a really important never to be repeated performance that you have recorded with a microphone on a laptop using the on-board sound card in the laptop, and the project has not yet been saved. If that's correct, do a search fo...

chillowack wrote:Where do I find the .aup file? I've been searching for it, but so far I haven't found it.
Try File > Recent Files in Audacity. If the file is not found, search your computer for *.aup, which should list all .aup files that are available. Include hidden files and folders in the search.

Re: How do I use Audacity to record streaming audio?

Use SoundFlower. Do a search on the forum for instructions.

Also, you might want to consider upgrading to 1.3.12.

Behringer c-1u Condenser USB mic

I recently purchased a new Behringer C-1U USB Microphone. It is a condenser mic and seems to produce nice quality sound. The problem I am having is that the mic is too quiet. Even when I set the audio mixer mic volume to max, I get very low levels when used with Audicity. I've tried other mics and t...

Re: How To Record Streaming Audio In 1.3?

But I use Windows XP Which is why there is a forum board specifically for people using Audacity 1.3.x on Windows http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewforum.php?f=5 The problem with posting on a general board like this is that no-one knows what sort of machine you are working on, and few people are goi...

Re: Correct Azimuth when capturing Monoural Cassette Recordi

Yes, I agree tweaking my deck's azimuth to match the recording would be the ideal fix. Call me lazy, but the mono mix exhibits conspicuous comb-filtering long before the individual channels do. Moreover, if the HF rolloff were due mainly to the azimuth error, the two channels would still be reasonab...
