Re: I got the message Could not open MP3 encoding Library!

Yes it does sound a bit crazy, but in some cases it does help. For the vast majority of users, installing Lame works first time (out of the box) but for various reasons it can fail for a few users. This only happens to a small minority of people, but it seems that you are in this elite club. If ther...

Re: Devices-Host. MME only is shown. Should be Core Audio

The original advice of not connecting a pre-amp output to a mic input still stands.

I am using 1.2.12 beta and I exited Audacity saving my project as I would normally but when I went back in I got the warning project message. My files are now mostly blank. Re: Project Rate

A search on Google for "Vox player" returned over 2.5 million results, so you should have little trouble finding something suitable. :) My guess would still be you want a command line tool like SOX so you can pass -r 6000 when you open the file (or at least a tool that has a preference to...

Unfortunately, sound card manufacturers rarely bother to write drivers for Linux - They have to write drivers for Windows because Windows has such limited hardware support built in, but has such huge dominance of the domestic PC market. Fortunately Linux has much more comprehensive hardware support ...

Re: vinyl effect

Have a look on Freesound.org (the open freesound project http://www.freesound.org ) and search for "vinyl noise". Use the Equalizer effect to reduce the bass of your recording and also reduce the highest frequencies. Import the vinyl noise that you have downloaded from Freesound.org onto a...
