Re: oops! problems with equalizer
The Equalizer can be set to a neutral "flat Eq" setting by clicking on the "Flatten" button. To restore the original pre-set curves list: Close Audacity Search your computer for the file "EQCurves.xml" You will need to enable searching for hidden files because by defaul...

Re: How to export audio while it's recording
Straight answer: no, audacity can't export to mp3 "on-the-fly". It always records uncompressed audio and you have to export to save to mp3 format. You don't tell us which operating system you have (windows? mac? linux?) so it's hard to give any recommendation without that piece of informat...

Audacity won't load, OSX 10.4.11
Hi there, first post. Made a quick search but didn't find a solution. I recently downloaded the newest version of Audacity, but my Mac won't load it. A generic cross out sign appears over the application icon, and a message pops up saying that "Audacity cannot be opened because it is not suppor...

Re: recording midi files on Audacity
Copy of my first response to you yesterday Madeleine, the UM2 is a Midi device; on the Roland website it states "The UM-2 utilises the Fast Processing Technology (FPT) which makes transmission of MIDI information exceptionally fast. In response to a regular incoming MIDI data flow, FPT optimiz...

Subsonic Filter Help?
As a new user of Audicity really appreciate the Tips, Tutorials and Forum comments especially concerning 1.3.13 Alpha. Recently read Reducing Subsonic Noise http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Reducing_noise and agree with writer (did not see name) "While removing hi-band noise might be considere...

Re: Low playback volume
If you go to http://www.behringer.com and click on "Buy Now" you can search for dealers in your area. That will probably direct you to music and sound equipment dealers who may have other options once you get in the store. Talk to them about what you want to do and see what they recommend....

Re: FFMpeg
And I think USE_SYSTEM_FFMPEG and --disable-dynamic-loading are not mutually exclusive - you can set USE_SYSTEM_FFMPEG but not configure with --disable-dynamic-loading, which gives user the opportunity to use an alternative (compatible) version of FFmpeg instead? They are the same. --disable-dynami...

Re: Low playback volume
If you're going to record voice only (speaking and not singing), and only need one mic then you can probably do fine with a simple usb mic. Koz has said good things about one Logitech model (I don't remember which model but if you search the forum for "koz logitech" you should get it
).
