Non-Audacity Sound Disappeared, Audacity Sound OK
Problem: Non-Audacity Sound Disappeared, Audacity Sound OK System: Windows 7 (64 bit) Audacity: 1.3.12-Beta (Unicode) I have been using Audicity successfully for a number of months to take input from my Ion USB turntable and to output to MP3 files. I've had no problems with Audacity nor with playing...

wma files?
I would like to edit wma files with Audacity. I did a Google search abut this and got the impression (perhaps mistakenly) that I could do this with Audacity 1.3.X (Beta). So I uninstalled 1.2.X and downloaded 1.3. I am still having problems. I tried Import and it didn’t work. I got an error message ...

I'm going to artfully side-step the immediate issue to tell you it's rarely a good idea to run Audacity 1.2 on a Mac. Get Audacity 1.3 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ ...and install it. You can put both versions on your machine, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will n...

Best MP3 Bit Rate/Settings For exporting Mono records
Objective: Strike a balance between file size and quality Recording Method: All vinyl records are imported via a USB turntable, cleaned up with various Audacity functions/settings, and then exported as 48KHz Stereo WAV files for archival purposes. The resulting WAV files are then rendered as MP3s to...

Re: Having alot of trouble compiling Audacity from SVN
With fear & trembling you may also examine the Registry entry with regedit (this is not for the uninitiated--if you do not understand the Registry DO NOT EDIT IT! though it is probably safe to search it <grin>):

How apply a chain to a set of files works
I put together a chain of commands. I found how to apply it to several files on my hard drive. I was stumped for a while when it didn't appear to actually save the files (which began and should end as MP3 format). I finally figured out that I had to actually add the "export" command to the...

Re: Audacity can't find ffmpeg and lame files
This was driving me NUTS trying to correct this on a machine after software was re-installed when its boot sector became corrupt, and this thread inspired me to press on. Here's my HOW TO document to fix what I found: Problem: No matter how many times one tries installations or re-downloads, FFMPEG...

Re: Win 7 64 Bit
Hi Steve I un installed Audacity. reinstalled audacity. Checked to see if any changed. No same notice. I turned off Skype. Though I am 100% certain that I would have had Skype running earlier as it is always on even when outlook is off. Skype is my phone. I closed audacity and checked it was not dun...

Re: Win 7 64 Bit
Could have updated in the few seconds while I was recording and then stopped and started. This would have been all of 10 Seconds. Sp small window. Thanks for the clarification - I'm getting a clearer picture now :) In these circumstances it seems unlikely that it is a driver issue, so probably not ...

Re: Draft: HOWTO convert audio file formats
You have several graphical frontends for ripping cds on linux, that will convert automatically to mp3 or flac. My favourite is grip, but there are many others, such as sound juicer (for gnome). There should be some for KDE too. Search Fedora's repositories and see what is available. Regarding direct...
