Re: Recording Audio Books
You might want to have a look at this wiki page: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Creating_a_simple_voice_and_music_Podcast_with_Audacity There are already a few threads on this forum about the subject, such as this: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=38274 If you search the for...

Logging All Processes & Changes
Hello, Firstly let me apologise for this suggestion if it's been dealt with elsewhere on the Forum. I did try and search for things like "logging", but couldn't find any related information. My suggetion is this: A means of logging all changes made to an audio file and the processes used /...

Samples Altered or am I going crazy
I have been using Audacity 1.3.12 on and off for about a year now mainly to only view files. Lately I expanded its use and noticed that after cutting chunks out from other files that the saved samples differed from the originals, although being displayed graphically as roughly the same but not ident...

Re: Samson Q1U question
Like I said before it might be a driver issue... Search the manufacturer website for an update or contact them. On Audacity if you go to Preferences -> Devices -> Recording -> Channels don't you get a "1 (mono)" option on the drop down menu? I'm not a windows user so I can't really help wi...

Re: XP Crashes when Recording
Sorry you did not get an answer before now. It is almost certainly a driver problem, probably with your sound device. Audacity itself does not have the kernel privileges to cause a system blue screen or reboot. Simply updating the drivers of the sound device you are using will usually fix problems l...

Re: Samson Q1U question
I still don't understand why on earth you're trying to record in stereo from one (mono) microphone... In my point of view, there shouldn't even be a stereo option available... sounds more like a driver problem. Search if there's any more recent driver version available. Instead of recording in stere...

Re: Elliptical Equalizer (mono crossfeed filter)
Here is what happens if Germans try to use English language: Preface: Somewhere in the early 2000s the German commercials department of a famous fashion manufacturer (no names here) came in a fit of "everything today sells much better with an english name" to the not really well-thought id...

Re: Draft: HOWTO convert audio file formats
Lets say you want to convert a bunch of files in many diferente directories and sub-directories... Here's an example to convert from m4a to wav and place the wav's in the same directories as the m4a's. Lets assume you have all the files in /home/whatever/music/ cd /home/whatever/music/ find . -name...

VST Library is gone in mystery
Hello forum people, since a few weeks Audacity 1.3 (beta) seems not willing to work as before... Before everything was fine, then for no reason that I know of all effects were gone from the menu. Also its impossible to generate frequencies anymore. My menu effects simply doesnt show this options any...

Re: Recording from a source other than LP's, tapes, etc.
There are a couple of Add-ons for Firefox that allow you to download YouTube videos (for example, here's onme of them: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=youtube&cat=all&x=0&y=0 ). This is a lot quicker and easier than recording them. If you have FFMpeg for Audacity insta...
