Re: distorted/clipped playback of recorded music
and tomorrow I will begin again the search for some type of solution to my problem - this time with checkbook in hand. It's still true ... you get what you pay for. If you are still here, I suggest you get a simpler recording-only application, perhaps Total Recorder [/u] [/color] ($18 USD & up)...

Re: distorted/clipped playback of recorded music
Thanks for your timely response. I went to ComputerGadgets'R'Us, acquired a USB interface thingie as you suggested and it made the problem worse. I then abandoned the laptop and went to my desktop system (which has both line-in and line out jacks), plugged into said jacks and the distortion/clipping...

Re: reduce size of mp3 files
Hi Koz, I did a google search for MP3 size reducing software, and the site http://mailsonline.net/archives/file/MP3QualityModifier1-0/452950.htm came up as one of the choices. When you run the executable, you'll see three entrees under 'Help' ..... 'Get Started' 'MP3 information' and 'Additional hel...

Re: Recording and old recording at the same time
I want to record a single track, have it recording all day and to be able to navigate through it as much as I desire without the recording stopping. How can I achieve this? No, not with audacity, sorry. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time. You can't play or do anything else while you're recor...

Re: Frustration with Aud 1.3
I'm trying to use Audacity 1.3 on my Dell Optiplex G280 (XP, Audigy Sound Blaster card), and become very frustrated with the lack of decent documentation and explanation of things in the software and particularly the user interface. I'm hoping someone here can help me understand some things about A...

Re: Time/Date Stamps
Audacity is not a surveillance recorder and can become profoundly unstable with very long shows. Audacity does not have rolling time and date stamps. The only way I ever found to do this is is with SMPTE Time Code which is a rolling time signal you can place on one of the Audacity sound tracks and p...

Locating Current Version of Audacity
Hi, I have recently registered with this form which makes me a noob and I wish to extend my greetings. I came across Audacity some time ago, maybe a year, and have procrastinated with the installation. To make a long story short, I am now a little confused as to what is the current version of Audac...

Re: Distortion on recording to Line in (Win7)
Exactly that. However, the search for nirvana (the place, not the band) has given us several live performance microphones with "hot" output: -40 to -44 instead of the usual -60 (thousand to one). The tone test generator from Shure... http://store.shure.com/store/shure/en_US/pd/productID.10...
