Re: feeling stupid!! need help installing AUDACITY on UNBUNT
One of the good things about Ubuntu is that it has a huge selection of free software available in its "repositories" (the on-line Ubuntu software resource). As long as you have a good internet connection (preferably broadband), most software that you are likely to want or need can be quick...

Re: Not Getting Stereo
Well, I give up. wdma_usbinf.bak wdma_usbpnf.bak cwindowssystem32driversusbaudio.sys are not in my Vista system, so I can't change what needs to be changed. wdma_usb.inf and wdma_usb.PNF may not necessarily have been renamed, but if you do not have those and C:Windowssystem32driversusbaudio.sys the...

Re: Not Getting Stereo
I'm afraid I'm going to have to try Nero... I found USB's in Devices Control, but can't do anything with them except updating/de-installing the drivers. I typed 'USB audio codec' in Vista's search machine and nothing turned up. I better wait until gerry tells us if he faired better.

Re: live concert cassette to mp3
It seems that what you are asking for is one MP3 file of the entire concert with the ability to skip to various songs. If that is the case, you want chapter markers embedded in the MP3 file. Audacity cannot do this, but there may be other tools that can. Search the web for "MP3 chapter marker t...

Re: 3.5mm to External Audio card Problem
The trick is to avoid "Phantom Power" adapters in the Google search. That's what larger commercial microphones use to power themselves. Those aren't five or six volts. Those take up to 48 volts. I think this company makes modules that would work, but they don't adapt to three-pin XLR Male....

Re: Append Import
Are you saying that you can leave "Import Folder" empty and it uses the last used Audacity Open/Import directory, or the working directory? No, but this feature has changed since the first (prototype) version. How it works now: The "Import Folder": The "Import Folder" ...

Re: Append Import
Thanks for this plug-in Steve and the "import mode" modification. One nice little bonus feature is that the specified directory is the "default" import folder. Files from other locations may be imported at the same time if they are typed with a fully qualified address. For exampl...

Re: Crash when apply chain (Clean Speech) on multiple small
Hi Edgar, Thanks for your answer (and sorry for the wrong place), it's good to see that Audacity has an active community ! I will do my best to help fixing that bug. Here is the crash report from MacOS: Process: Audacity [1078] Path: /Applications/AudacityBeta1.3.13/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audac...

Re: Please help with Recovery
Yes, they seem to be in order even numbered left channel, and odd right channel... or maybe vice versa. either way piecing together 3800 sound files is not something I would like to do manually... wondering if there's a way to automate the process and how exactly i would go about doing such a thing....
