Re: recording a rap song
If you are not getting a "clean" recording, it could be your mic, or the acoustics/soundproofing in your "studio", or mic position, or the recording level, etc. If you don't start with a good performance and a good recording, there's only so much you can do in "post producti...

Re: On-going recording problem
What kind of M-Audio device do you have? What kind of mic? is it possible you've got a condenser mic and you've got phantom power turned-off? Is it possible that your mic cable is broken, or that something's changed with your hardware setup? If it's a software problem, it's a driver or set-up proble...

Re: Converting to 8 bit Files [SOLVED]
I am sorry if this seems a bit lazy  I have made a quick search of FAQs and most of it goes way over my head. I have about 100, 22 kHz 16 bit wav files. I need to be able to convert them into 8 kHz 8 bit linear wav files. I am not certain that Audacity supports this format. Does it? If it does...

Please help! No Sound being recorded.
First off, I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered elsewhere. I read the FAQ and did search the forum before posting, but I suppose that doesn't mean it hasn't been asked before somewhere. Some information: Windows 7 64 bit, and I usually use Stereo Mix to record sound. I recently adde...

Re: Sound quality deteriorates halfway through recording
By the time you get to Windows 7, they gave up the idea of selecting more than one device at once. Nobody could figure it out. Other machines have "Aggregate Device," but they usually limit themselves to two identical -- or similar -- microphones. You need that service because Audacity wil...

Re: slight Distortion on Harmonizing
Overload, smashing and clipping are pretty much permanent performers in your show. That and echoes are all but impossible to remove. You can try Effect > Clip Fix. If you don't have that tool, I may need to go search for it. Clip Fix is one of the tools that gets your hopes up, but rarely works well...

If all else fails, you can connect a cable from the line-out (green) port of the computer to the line-in (blue), and choose the line-in as recording source - http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#cp I will search the house for this cable and try this option. I feel like it'll be th...
