Re: Redistributing Audacity
Do all of your readers use Windows? Surely not. My question really was, what do I have to put in my download so the redistributed Audacity installs properly on my customer's computer? There is no uniform way how Audacity must be installed under different operating systems, so the answer is quite di...

Re: Deleted files and restoring
Also would the marker not be hearing it as she does not have the program installed on her computer? They may be using a different version of PowerPoint. Microsoft are notorious for bringing out new versions of programs that produce files that do not open properly in older versions. Alternatively yo...

Re: Few Audacity questions
If no VST effects have been detected by Audacity then scanning will probably occur, but it should be reasonably quick. The exact amount of time taken depends on several factors including what .dll files Audacity finds in the search path. The search path includes: The Audacity Plug-ins folder. The pa...

Re: Few Audacity questions
On Windows, both LADSPA and VST plug-ins are .dll files. When Audacity scans it is looking to see if there are any VST plug-ins, so it checks all of the .dll files that it finds in the plug-in search path. If Audacity finds one or more VST plug-ins it will try to enable it and will not search again ...

Re: Effects Not Displayed in Drop-down Menu
No offence is taken. I'm trying to help you find answers more efficiently, as much as having a to-fro about your complaints. The "cost" in adding too many FAQ's (as well as in volunteer time) is making such a long list of them that no-one reads them. Seriously. ;) One point you seem to be ...

Re: Effects Not Displayed in Drop-down Menu
Gale, I hesitate to respond to this, because there is most likely no sense in quibbling. But, I will make a few remarks before I put closure on this topic. You stated that "No one said audacity.cfg was in the Audacity program folder." This is true, the information was not provided, I had t...

Problems With Preferences Libraries
I've just downloaded and installed Audacity v2.0. I have used the software before and had no special problems with it. I use it for a lot of things but most recently I've been using it to extract clips to make ringtones for my iPhone. I had to download and install it freshly because I'm using a new ...

Importing wma files and AVFormat-52.dll not installed
I am a new user on Audacity 2.0.0. My laptop runs Win 7. I am trying to import wma files created using Win 7 Sound Recorder and export them as smaller file sized files so I can attach them to a Powerpoint presentation. As per the help I installed LAME (For FFMpeg/LAME on Windows: Lame_v3.99.3_for_Wi...

Default Program File Association Problem
I recently updated from the 1.3 beta to the 2.0 version of Audacity and so far everything seems fine except it broke Audacity being the default program for .wav files. And despite using the open with>browse, choose default program, etc. options audacity is not even listed as a choice for opening the...

Re: Exported mp3 does not play in Google Chrome
Testing with Google Chrome (17.0.963.83) on Windows XP. Both of the "files" open as expected (if you download the MP3 files and then open them in Chrome). When opening the web URLs, this one (as you reported) does not play: http://www.hbcg-owp.nl/Diensten/TestMP3.mp3 but this one does: htt...
