Re: How to preserve original file characteristics when joini
You want a WAV editor, not Audacity. Audacity converts all incoming work to a very high quality internal sound format, edits, and then converts again during export. There is no guaranteed relationship between in and out. Thanks, Koz! That makes sense and it sounds like exactly what I'm looking for....

Re: Brand New Mic. Need help with using it?
That looks amazingly like a Shure SM58 rock concert microphone, I'm sure on purpose. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=Shure+SM58&rkg=1&utm_source=MSN&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=livesound&utm_term=shure_sm58 Anyway, the signal at the bottom of the microphone is reeeee...

Re: Lag after Editing
What's the hard drive light doing while you're waiting for the Audacity Project to load? What's the screen doing? During the wait, could you go off and check email? Which Virus Protection do you have and does it make any difference if you disconnect your network and suspend the Virus software? Will ...

Re: Will Audacity work for me?
Yes, I do have a laptop. No, I have not recorded my voice before. Audacity looks like the perfect tool to put all these voices together for my video. Thank you for the tips. Would you know what 'termanology' I need to state in my search engine to find a program that will manipulate my voice to creat...

Remove "broken record" Segments of recording
Sorry, I am brand new to the Forum, although not to Audacity. I did a search but could not find an answer to my problem. Possibly, I haven't been wording it correctly... How can I easily find and fix sections of my Audacity recording where the vinyl record I have recorded has repeated itself... &quo...

Re: How to remove older LAME files
First, make a note of which copy Audacity is using as follows: - In Audacity do Edit > Preferences > Libraries - Press Locate... for the LAME library - Press the Home key - Make a note of the drive letter, path and file name that Audacity is actually using Next, from the Vista Start button (bottom l...

Re: Music Export Problem
The sample rate is 44,100HZ, which is the CD standard. The custom FFmpeg export worked just fine, but I was never asked for a format of any kind. When doing a Google search on lame encoders, I see multitudes. Staying away from anything unofficial, I see 2 different codecs. One is 3.99.3, and the ot...

Re: Recording iPhone 4 Voicemail Greeting
Were you still choosing the microphone input in Audacity's Device Toolbar when you tried before with the headset microphone? If so and the quality was not good enough, you have two choices. One is to play the message on the iPhone and record it into Audacity. You will need a suitable cable to connec...
