Re: Underwater effect
What is the sound? What's the context of your question, is it for a theatrical production? The idea is to modify speech for a machinma. This is the effect I'm hoping to imitate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z4ElRy8b6w&t=3m39s Freesound has some hydrophone recordings which you could emulate /...

I am a nubie
I have a long recording mp3 and I want to excerpt small bites and makes them in to mp3's on their own, on a particular interview question.
I don't know the lingo so I wasn't sure how to search for, and ask about doing this.
Thanks,
M

Re: Converting ODM to MP3 files
As far as I understand it from a search on Google, ODM files are just a small text file that downloads the actual audio book once you have installed Overdrive Media Console ( http://www.overdrive.com/software/omc/accessibility.aspx ). If you can then play the audio in Media Console, you can use Soun...

Only to show that it works: ;; Reduce Samplerate for faster calculation (set-sound-srate 4410) (setq long-sound; 60 ramdomly chosen notes in 1 octave (seqrep (i 60) (abs-env (osc-note (+ 60 (random 12)))))) (setf search-item (osc-note 64)); Note E ; to reverse the sound, we use an array ; Note that ...

Re: Can you import a mp3 file into Audacity for editing
I asssume you can play the MP3 on your computer? If FFMPEG doesn't work... Try using a different program to convert your MP3 to WAV . (Its an extra step for you, but there is no harm in converting to uncompressed WAV, since Audacity is going to decompress the MP3 anyway.) There are many applications...

Re: Reducing Harshness of Booming Vocals
I have one negative performance comment. You have fluffs and word mistakes in that clip. There are instances where you pause at the wrong place while you search for a word or phrase or duplicate a phrase. The whole object of editing is so the mistakes never ever make it to the client. I hate the wor...

Re: track's vertical scales (decibels)
Koz and PGA, Thank you so very much. Just knowing a couple of extra terms can help so much. Koz, I accept that I cannot measure room noise with Audacity. But it seems inevitable that 0 dBFS must lie somewhere on the dBSPL scale, somewhere between hearing threshold and a jet engine roar. No? That is ...
