Re: Effects
I am trying to use Audacity - in the effects drop box - there is no rock setting in the graphic eq tab. :?: You have to experiment with what sounds good to you. Most rock EQ curves leave the middle frequencies and the very bottom frequencies alone (zero gain), and increase all the other frequencies...

Audacity adds hiss to export.
Basically, I am importing a 32-bit WAV file in Audacity and upon exporting it in various formats, other than 32-bit, I am left with a hiss that was not present in the original WAV. To also make it clear, I am not doing anything to it other than importing then exporting. Is there some dither setting ...

Re: Ann: Simple Dual-Fade Plugin
Thanks for the pointer. Looks promising. Obviously I didn't search hard enough before writing my own plug-in :) . There's nothing wrong with reinvention ;) Nyquist is there to be used, so we like to encourage experimentation. I hope you enjoyed making your own version. By the way, if you wish to po...

Re: STRANGE recording/playback problem using Vibe turntable
When recording, sometimes the audio for vocals (and occasionally some instrumental tracks) is barely audible. It tends to happen with older discs ('50s and '60s) - more often mono ones but sometimes stereo. I think your turntable is defective. :( It sounds like something might be miswired* (like th...

Re: can't open audacity
Try Google search. There are many reports of problems with that plug-in. Try deleting .asoundrc or asound.conf (see http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Asoundrc ) . Or delete the plug-in if you don't want it. You can also quit Audacity and initialise its preferences ( http://manual.audacityte...

Re: Cursor functionality needs dramatic improvement
...It is fascinating and frustrating how Simplicity is so hard to 'Get'. Simplicity is a very expensive product. Search on a Mac is very simple and the latest OSs include "Spotlight" which is blindly fast and always seems to know what you want before you do. Search on a Windows machine is...

Overwritten files with no warning
I've been using Audacity for a while now, but mostly the Windows version. I've been using Linux for maybe a little over a year now. I use OpenSuse 11.4 and the KDE desktop. Today I recorded a cover of a song which I could not find a backing track for by pasting in the original song as a guide. It to...
