Re: Where are plugins?
>/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/LADSPA, Actually, no, that's not where they are. I didn't change anything during the installation, just had the installer put them where ever it put them. Searching for 'LADSPA' doesn't bring up anything either . . . Yet they appear in the application, so they must be somew...

Re: Crashing when opening file from External HD
If you launch Audacity from the command line you may see an error message to give you some indication of the cause of the problem. I've never found a way to make that happen on Windows. You get a new prompt immediately after you type "audacity". There is little useful program debugging in...

Re: I can't get audacity installed to open up
Nothing happens when I hit the icon on the doc or from applications from Finder. I'm thinking I haven't installed it correctly. This is what I did. I hit download from Audacity Mac... then clicked on the download folder when audacity finished downloading and it open up a file folder and a text file...

Re: lossless trimming?
In the world of image editing ... it is known that you shouldn't edit-and-save in a lossy format if you can avoid it. Yes that's exactly the same for audio. My question - is there anything equivalent for mp3, on Linux? MP3Split The command line tool is called mp3splt (if you search in Synaptic, not...

If you listen to the actual air traffic the voice quality varies very widely from near studio quality to taxicab trash. ) ... you need to record or find some of the background noise yourself. see ... http://www.freesound.org/search/?q=ATC e.g. ... pilot has wider bandwidth than ATC.jpg http://www.f...

Re: corrupted wav file
As I understand it, the recording was to the SD card. Repeating my reply on [email protected]. you could try File > Import > Raw Audio... in Audacity. It will be essential to match the encoding and sample rate with that in the file itself. However if the file cannot be dragged off the SD card in a form reco...

Re: changing ouput level
How are you "downloading" from YouTube to the tablet? What stops you downloading the actual YouTube file (therefore "as is" with no volume changes) to the computer that runs Audacity? You can search Google for how to download YouTube videos. It is not a good idea to convert to MP...

Re: Very Confused Newbie
Ok, I see that I should have made an .aup file but I don't understand how to take those .au files now and turn them in to an .aup file. Sorry for being such a slow learner. Are you sure you did not save an Audacity project? Look at File > Recent Files and click on the .aup file. Or search your comp...

Re: HELP! Recovered file, now speed too fast!
The .au files are named randomly. If the audio has been edited there isn't much chance of getting it in the correct order without the .aup project file or "autosave" temporary project file that relates to the time when the audio was correct. You may not have cut the wrong audio. It may be ...

Re: First time user info confirmation
Will the customer be able to turn off his CD player and then be able to find his place when he turns it back on to resume hearing the book narration, without having to search thru the tracks??? If you burn an audio CD with each chapter as a track, the CD starts at track 1 (Chapter 1) and the user c...
