Re: Audacity Very Slow To Startup
I've been looking on Google for a solution to this problem. I can find plenty of references to slow launching of various applications with these dsnoop messages, but no real solution. I've also tested with Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 (32 bit) running in Virtualbox and I can reproduce the problem. The dsn...

Re: Audacity crashing when launching
outdated/corrupt plugin which was fixed, Fixed or removed? Yes, you can cause Audacity to melt with a bad effects plugin. Did you search the machine and make sure no trace of the plugin was left in some of the universal folders? installed on an 8 gig thumbdrive Do you boot from the thumb drive? Did...

Re: Recording electric guitar without a preamp, acoustically
However, when I try to do the same thing using gain/distortion... I assume that's louder? In that case, you are probably overdriving the laptop's preamp. You can try moving the laptop farther away from the amp, or maybe put a pillow over the laptop's mic. (Both of those things are going to change t...

Re: Phantom startup message: Revalver[SOLVED]
Of course, the question that remains is why on earth did neither of these things register when I did a system search for "ReValver" and "Peavey"? But that's for another forum. It's confusing. When I searched for my LADSPA plug-ins installed on OS X 10.8 in /Library/Audio/Plug-In...

Re: Phantom startup message: Revalver[SOLVED]
Wow. Okay. You hit that one on the head. There were Peavey AND ReValver plug-ins lurking. I trashed them and that warning message at start up is gone. Thanks so much. Of course, the question that remains is why on earth did neither of these things register when I did a system search for "ReValv...

Re: Phantom startup message: Revalver
Hi-- No, I've already been to that Library directory and there is no "Peavey Electronics" folder in the Applications Support folder. And as I wrote, a search of my computer reveals nothing with ReValver (or Peavey) in the name. I mean it's Audacity that's looking for the Library, not I. Ho...
