Working on multi-track recordings
I have one of those marvelous 4-tk capable handheld MTRs, GREAT for recording, but almost impossible to edit from the device, so I dump the files onto my computer to edit with Audacity. I didn't find any post appropriate with the search box, but perhaps I'm not asking the question correctly. Does an...

Re: DLL opener problems
That is exactly what I did. I get a box asking what program I want to open with and when I check "search the files opened web site for safe programs that can open your .dll file", it takes me to the website and when I try to run it, the computer says there is a problem. I've tried several ...

Re: fragmentation
We find revealing the .wav part of the name can be helpful if you're in trouble. You can force Windows to show it to you. Hidden File Extensions -- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > [ ] Hide Extensions for Known File Types (deselect) -- Apply (to this folder) or Apply to All Fol...

Newbie audio programmer smoothing and windowing functions.
I'm tinkering with writing a piano tuning program for my own personal use. Part of that process is a real-time pitch detection process whose aim is to detect which note on the piano is being played and to compare its frequency to a previously computed target frequency. Here is my current approach an...

hum or buzz question..from a newbee
First off..HAPPY NEW YEAR and seasons greetings. I just got this Vibe USB turntable and I am finding there is quite a bit of hum in the recording. Actually looks like more on the left channel. I suspect I have a cheesy turntable. Probably a very common problem but a quick search prior to posting did...

I can't hear my recorded 1st track while recording the next
hello everybody,
I tried the search, but got more than 700 answers.
my question:
I recorded the first track, listened to it & want to record an add. track now.
when I press record, I can do that, but can't hear the already recorded 1st track.
what do I have to do?
thanks in advance.

Re: Missing files
I looked for the 'Audacity Projects' file but found an 'Audacity' file instead. Some of the missing files are there but they seem to be all chopped up into 4 or 6 second pieces. Sorry to be so thick but I don't understand what is going on. Are the complete projects to be found elsewhere on the HD? ...

Re: Unable to get audacity to recognize mic
My snowball requires mono recording instead of stereo. Does it explicitly give "error opening sound device" if you set Audacity recording channels to stereo? In that case it might be worth noting that in the Frequently Asked Question as a possible explanation. That said, a glance at the A...

Re: Missing files
You can confuse "Recent Files." Did you actually go down the directory path to see where your files are rather than depending on Audacity to find them? If you remember what names you used, can Windows search find them? Did you save Audacity Projects, or did you actually Export real sound f...

Re: Can't record from cassette player
Did recording from "Sound Mapper - Input" work in Audacity after recording from Windows Media Player? There don't appear to be any audio drivers available for immediate download for XPS 430. If I was you I would go to the Dell site http://www.dell.com/support/Diagnostics/ and let them do a...
