Re: Can't download the mp3 decoder
The Lame download totally messed up my computer. It added new tool bars that I don't want, permanently switched my search engine to Bing, disabled my Norton anti-virus package, and god knows what else. When I tried to download the Lame Mp3 decoder, it required that I get the optimum downloader whic...

Re: My 3-Hour Sound File Has Disappeared Completly!
Audacity Crash on my Win 7 laptop after 3 hours and 59 tracks. It started up with a recovery file. I fixed the last track, saved the recovery file then went to save as a new filename for safety. Audacity Crashed again but this time, the only thing I had in my hard drive was an old .aud back up file...

Re: Error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 5199
I'd still like to know if that project showed you error message boxes when you opened the repaired autosave file I attached. So the autosave is gone along with the Project folder. Luckily I copied and saved the autosave along with the project. To be clear, do you mean you copied and saved the "...

Re: Help with M-Audio Fast Track
Try this: On the premise that that ALSA is the audio host in Audacity, I would suggest installing an ALSA mixer (if you don't already have one). Go into Synaptic Package Manager and search for "mixer". A whole bunch will show up. I'm using the xfce4-mixer (I have XFCE DE installed but usin...

Does not find input sources after Windows Update
Yesterday Microsoft did a total of 38 Windows updates on my computer (Windows 7 [Version 6.1.7601]). Since that update Audacity flatlines (as in no input) from any source (in the past I strictly recorded output sent to the speakers). I have no microphone(s) so I have no way of knowing if recording f...

Re: Playback of imported/recorded files distorted and fast.
Just a quickie before bed: after a bit of fiddling, I seem to have developed a rather clumsy workaround. I can record from my soundcard using the default pulseaudio settings, but to play the recording back I have to switch to the sound on my video card (HDMI). I can then play and edit, but if I try ...

Re: Recovering A Recording
Then it should all be there. Windows may be a little wacky, but as a general rule, it doesn't just lose files. If you search for the names on your drives, do you get any hits? Search for partial names? Audacity asked do I want to replace certain files? Audacity asked you, not Windows? Did you have A...
