Re: Sound Pressure, rms, and decibels.
Sound pressure is simply the intensity (therefore "pressure") of the air which is moved by a sound wave. Pressure of anything is simply pressure; the addition of the word "level", as in SPL (sic), is a grammatical gaffe and is unecessary. Furthermore, when I was taught, decades a...

Silence inserted rather than copied audio
Hi Guys, First post... I had a very quick search and couldn't find an answer, so sorry if I've missed this. I'm using Audacity 2.0.3, Windows 8 64 bit. But I've also experience this with a Windows 7 32 bit OS. So I have some turntables, samplers, synths, etc. I've recorded the noise I make into Auda...

Re: Can't remove clunk from audio cassette transfer
Google brings up this page for vertical zoom search http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Zooming Sure, it says this: Left-click once to zoom in at the position on the vertical scale you are interested in. This point will then be centered on the vertical scale. That wasn't self explanatory to me at lea...

Re: Periodic sound sampling over time
leaving the microphone and its ampli connected permanently. And computer. I would guess that even if you managed to get it to work, you wouldn't be able to use the computer for anything else. Audacity is a simple program and it likes running on simple computers. Very few people have managed to make...

Re: How do i find my recorded mp3 file back on a older audac
The Lame software is in a folder inside the Audacity program folder. You should Save or Export your work to My Music or other working folder, not a program folder. An Audacity upgrade should not change the FFMpeg or Lame software, so your work should still be there. Search the machine for one of the...

Re: A Nyquist de-esser, and more?
Go to audible.com, and just click on the icon for any title, or enter any search for a list of titles. Click on the green arrowhead under the cover image next to the word "Sample" and listen for free. Notice also the different "Audio Formats" which are 2, 3, 4, e, all sampled her...

Re: Bandwith limited when ripping vinyl
Thank you for all these answers and take the time to explain. I feel somewhat scammed with the 24 bits music we can find on the net, and now with my audio interface. Hopefully it have some nice D/A decoder so it's still ok, and it's useful to listen to 24/192 ridiculously encoded rips from internet ...

comma as decimal separator
A recent bug fix in the Audacity development code (2.0.5 alpha) enables comma as the decimal separator when appropriate to the locale (for example German localization). However, for Nyquist plug-ins this only affects slider widgets. If numerical data is entered in a text widget, then Nyquist reads i...

Audacity Not Picking up Gain increase from microphone
Hello all, First post here, but I did search for this, unsuccessfully. If this answer to this out there in the forums already, please just reply with the link and I'll follow it. If not, here goes: I just received a Blue Yeti Pro USB microphone. I have it connected via USB and have tested in Audacit...

Re: A Nyquist de-esser, and more?
I meant to ask about your de-esser. I found discussion of it with a search of old forum posts but only found a broken link to another site.
