Re: will not download
When you type, press ENTER twice every few sentences. Otherwise what you write is unreadable. What exactly was the problem to begin with? That you could not start Audacity? If you open "Computer" and put "*.AUP" (without quotes) in the Search box can you find all your AUP files? ...

Re: Decent mic for 50 bucks?
I think you need push your budget a bit (or save-up for awhile longer), and maybe we can say, "Less than $100". For around that price range (maybe a little more) you can get nearly professional-studio quality (assuming you have a nice quiet "studio" with good acoustics to record ...

Re: Minimum processing requirement to use Audacity
I wouldn't personally. They are two different users with slightly different questions. You could search for similar questions and make them into one topic with the same reasons not to do that.Stéphane Ascoët wrote:Should we merge this thread with http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 46&t=73241 ?

Re: USB Audio Interface
Will a usb audio interface connect to a usb mic No. A USB mic plugs directly into a USB port on your computer. A usb soundcard is out of the question since it won't connect to my usb mic. It seems that you already knew the answer. :? In most cases, changing the motherboard or even changing the whol...

Re: Motherboard
I wouldn't recommend it, . And certainly wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you are very confident with taking your computer apart and you are willing to risk "killing" it. Just disassembling a laptop can be difficult. (I've changed motherboards in desktop systems, and I've built...

Re: moving to wxWidgets 3.0
Make sure to reboot your computer after resetting the WXWIN environmental variable! Do this before you attempt to ever compile Audacity. Use this Microsoft Visual Studio project: audacity-vs2012.sln to compile Audacity. I would suggest following this procedure: 1) download & compile current wxWi...

Re: Is it possible to record from the line in of a CR6249A?
I couldn't find the actual specs or user manual, but I don't think it has line-in, I think it only has line- out. If it has line-in, there would be at least two pair of RCA connectors (stereo-in and stereo-out) plus a switch labeled "Phono - Aux", or "Phono - Tape" for switching ...

removing breaths from reading text?
Working in audacity 2.04 for now, windows 7, but i don't think that affects my question. I'm recording audiobooks, and I would love to find some simple way to remove or auto-find the sound of my breathing, which ends up really loud and raspy after compression. i was thinking, is there some threshold...

Re: possible to recover audio after accidentally closing pro
If you are prepared to just use the left or right channel as a mono recording then the obvious solution would be to run a recursive script that ran on all folders in the _data folder and deleted all odd or even numbered AU files. I am not a scripting genius but you could search on Google or ask on t...

Re: treat 385 mp3 files
Firstly, MP3 is a "lossy" format. In order to make the files small, MP3 encoding throws away some of the audio data and then packs the remaining data together tightly. Some audio quality is always lost when encoding audio into MP3 format. For Audacity to be able to do all of the cool thing...
