Re: No Playback on MacBook (loud click instead)
I've updated the Wiki page http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Building_On_Mac . The whole process on that page depends on linking Xcode 3.2.6 with later Xcode. This is OK when updating to Mavericks from earlier OS X as I did, because you can install Xcode 3.2.6 on Mountain Lion or earlier. I really d...

Re: Microphone question
For around $100 USD you can get a "studio style" or "podcast" USB microphone ( examples ). With one of those, you can get nearly pro studio quality (assuming you have a reasonably quiet "studio" with good acoustics, and a "professional performance" to record ;...

Re: Adding silent space every 30 seconds over 45 min MP3
Hi Steve, Yes you are right there is some splitting of the words which makes it difficult to follow. The 3 second overlay is perfect. Yes, there is a great need for this when transcribing, a plug in would be very helpful for many. When I was searching for a program to transcribe, audacity did not ap...

Re: Constant ticking throughout my recordings
If you only hear them on playback the clicks could be skipping , try increasing the OS priority of Audacity.Stingray5 wrote:... I don't hear any clicks during the recording, only after during playback.

or put them both in the middle and the show will sound like half of both. You mean it is better to use two dynamics microphones like re-20 & heil pr-40? or you mean that using two mics will result in getting half the quality? Microphones can interfere with each other. So it is better to use onl...

Lame and FFmpeg libraries not where they should be[SOLVED]
Mavericks 10.9 on a 13" macbook pro retina Audacity 2.0.5 I've opened an m4a file and trimmed both ends. I now wish to export it out as an m4a file. I'm told I need the library installed for this and for mpg. So I followed the instructions here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installa...

Re: Advise me for Audio Book & ScreenCasting Narration Video
My personal general mixer is a Peavey PV6. Probably its worst two shortcomings are the inability to run from batteries (I have not actually tried the car battery trick) and it uses knobs instead of slide faders for each sound channel. I have the analog mixer because my Mac has a very good stereo ana...

Re: Advise me for Audio Book & ScreenCasting Narration Video
There is one problem with USB microphones that was revealed in several posts recently. Condenser microphones require power to operate. Unlike ribbon or dynamic (moving coil) microphones, condensers all have electronics inside. They can be designed to run from an actual battery you have to buy and i...

The file does not show up in RECENT, and I see no .AUP file. Where can I look for the missing .AUP file. Open "Computer" or "My Computer" and put "*.AUP" (star - period - AUP, without quotes) in the Search box. You may have to double-click on the drive first, search th...

Re: analyzing stereo and mono tracks
thanks guys if i could get the nyquist plug in to work that would be great. I do see it in the audacity folder just need to know what to do. I load in a track and see 2 blue wave forms that play. Now what do i do to activate the plug in for a stereo look ? It isn't a stereo-visualizer. For one, it ...
