Re: wow & flutter spectrum analysis
Sure, I can explain the code. As it is, the code uses only a test sound, namely a frequency sweep from 440 to 880 Hz. (the code was:) ;; Zero crossing rate ;; Size = amount of samples that are averaged ;; hop = samples to advance, ;; determines the sample rate of the result ;; amp is used to disable...

Re: How to remove vocals from the Mp3 Song with complete acc
Complicated, of course, by the original being in MP3 which isn't completely accurate to the original show. Here's a thread from someone else with the same goal. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=77378 As above, you can search for the karaoke version for purchase or talk the orig...

Re: Compiling instructions for non-programmer?
I need ASIO compatibility. I've read the compiling instructions in the wiki (http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/ASIO_Audio_Interface#Non-distributable_ASIO_support_in_Audacity), and am totally intimidated. Sorry, it looks like a major project with no guarantee of success, and it would have to be rep...
Re: Paste/mix
I don't use Wavepad, but from a quick search on Google it appears to be a primitive way of mixing two tracks. Audacity is a multi-track editor so you don't need to do that. Each imported file or recorded track can exist on separate tracks and are automatically mixed when you press play or export to ...

Re: Options Menu
hopefully sometime we will have "Recording Profiles" for choosing which channels to record and what tracks to allocate them to, and audio to buffer/latency correction per device. The latter may well be easiest handled in Preferences. So at some point in the future there may be a need for ...

Re: Downloading Audacity
I'm not sure what would cause the waveforms to disappear permanently. It's usually because Audacity cannot write to the Audacity temporary folder. That location is noted at Edit > Preferences: Directories. Sometimes Norton or other security programs can delete the Audacity temporary files. You must...

Re: Downloading Audacity
I'm not sure what would cause the waveforms to disappear permanently. As far as reinstalling, after you uninstall, look for the Audacity profile folder and delete it to clear all previous settings. Depending on your operating system it'll be in Application Data or Program Data. Probably the easiest ...

Re: Feature request: "Goto" in Label Editor
...but would make the search completely useless with some naming schemes, such as: track01, track02, track03... Maybe something closer to a regular expression search, then. True regular expressions would be arcane to people accustomed to menus for searches, but just having 2 escapable wildcard char...

Re: Unable to select "IDT High Definition Audio Codec"
Dear Gale, So kind of you to reply with factual information to my question. As happens so frequently the info obtained from a google search was indeed "rubbish", and being inexperienced I didn't know the difference. In response to your first question, I only want to dub a short audio clip ...

Re: Removing vocals ONLY, and not other instruments
With "sparkly" I mean the instrumentation you hear in the stem at the 0:30 mark: https://soundcloud.com/tiago-pedro-ti/stem-men-in-this-town-shakira In the 1st part you hear this thick beat above it, which you also hear throughout the verses in the original song, minus those sparkly instr...
