Re: Missing right channel of stereo recording
Make the UFO 202 default recording device in Windows Sound then record using Windows Sound Recorder (just search for "Sound Recorder" without quotes). If Sound Recorder records only the left channel and silent right channel then the issue seems to be the UFO 202. Can you try another USB ca...

Re: What is the standard RMS value for music?
I did a Googl search and found this, here, on this site, from 2013: That was referring to voice recordings for audiobooks, not for music. A-Weighted RMS was intended for measuring low level noise, such as the background hiss created by electronic components in audio circuits. It's not a particularl...

Re: What is the standard RMS value for music?
I did a Googl search and found this, here, on this site, from 2013: Some of the technical detail is a little bit "out", for example: "There should be exactly 500ms (0.5 seconds) at the head of each file" The start time of an MP3 file is not "exact" due to limitations of...

Re: Cassette tapes to CD
Wouldn't it be easier just to buy the CD(s) - Amazon appears to have a great pile ? http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_18?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=the%20oak%20ridge%20boys%20cd&sprefix=The+Oak+Ridge+Boys%2Caps%2C316 When I converted my vinyl and tapes I never bothere...

Re: Is there a button i can press to start recording
I am not familiar with Dxtory, but it sounds like you are recording your game with one system or software and recording your voice with another software (Audacity) in this case and you need to synchronize the two. All you need to do is to create some synchronizing clue(s) that you can use in your re...

Managing phono recordings
Several years ago I embarked on a project to digitize my vinyl so that I could listen to my records during my long daily commute. I soon settled on Audacity as my primary audio file processing and conversion tool. The most tedious part is editing the entry and exit segments of each side to eliminate...

Re: 3 pin din microphone to PC sound card
A quick web search indicates that jantom's Grundig is a 1970's vintage dynamic mic. And yes they did come with a 3-pin DIN connector at the end of the cable NOT an XLR. It appears that they mated Grundig's tape recorders at the time. I don't believe you find any sort of adapter. If you really want t...

How can I reduce crackling/popping sounds on a ringtone?
I'm trying to make a ringtone for someone who's using a Samsung Galaxy S2. However, the speakers don't play it as properly as my computer speakers/headphones would (not sure if it's the bass that's causing it). For rock/metal instruments, what would someone try and alter to make it sound more clear?...

No evidence of file modification by Chain [SOLVED]
I just created a chain to apply Click Removal. It took 10-20 minutes to run on 42 files (each being one side of an LP recording). There were no warning or error messages. Now, according to Windows File Explorer, the original files still have their original values of the [Date modified] tag (which ar...

Re: Edit multiple voice recordings
Koz suggested a search engine. Why not take him up on that suggestion? You have to make the frequency distribution (Equalization) of the target voice the same as the voice you want to sound like *and* change the voice formants independently of the frequency. You can look at http://forum.audacityteam...
