Re: Need help with Microphone purchase for home use (song recording)
mainly to record songs Just in general - Solo voice or solo acoustic instruments are the most difficult because of room noise & reflections, and sometimes electronic noise. A more "dense" or "complex" mix will help to mask (drown-out) noise. Try a recording application on your phone. The microphone...

Re: How to implement virtual surround sound
Yeah... There are some "tricks" but there's no reliable way to make it seem like the sound is coming from behind when it's not. You can search for a virtual surround plug-in or a stereo widening plug-in. Most of these can have weird side-effects and some will mess-up mono playback so keep that in-m...

Re: Getting rid of background static on imported audio voice recordings
I need it for legal purposes, thanks. The human brain is often the best filter and if you can't understand what's being said software is unlikely to help. Sometimes equalization (i.e. the Graphic EQ effect) can help with intelligibility to some extent. But most of what you see on TV and in movies i...

Is Audacity version 2.4.2 compatible with Windows 7? and Boosting dynamic mic power questions

I looked at the audacityteam.org page and can't seem to find this info which seems was there before because I thought I checked this out already. Al...

Re: Distortion, pops, etc
Wow. Thank you. Yeah, I probably had my browser open underneath, but maybe just email and Facebook open. But I will close everything except the access to files in the future. Thank you. BTW, if you have the time you can check out my program, The Jazz/Blues Mashup, when it's broadcast from noon to 1:...

How to achieve gradual increase/fade in of distortion effect?
Hi, I'm using Audacity 2.4.2 and trying to make a creepy audio clip that slowly gets more and more distorted as it goes on, until the end of the track is heavily distorted. Is there a way to achieve this smooth transition of an effect with Audacity? Google has turned up nothing, which either means I...
